first time making a server, what mods do i NEED ?

hi,

renting a 64 slot server for me and like 15 friends, want to do casual rp. never set up fivem before but i know lua a tiny bit from minecraft modding lol.

what are the absolute essentials? i see lists of 50+ resources online and that seems insane.

so far i was thinking:

  • esx or qbcore (which one ??)
  • some kinda admin menu
  • a chat system
  • inventory

is there more i'm missing or is that overkill already ?

    you don't NEED much. esx_legacy + ox_inventory + a basic admin menu and you're good for months. add stuff only when you need it

    qbcore for beginners. ESX has more docs but qb is easier to understand the codebase

    for 15 friends honestly you can stay vanilla + a basic admin menu (vMenu works fine for small groups). don't install esx unless you actually want jobs/money/etc
